Downloading Files
How to download a transfer
When someone shares an Upvault link with you, open it in a browser. The link opens a web app that shows the files included in the transfer.
- Single file — tap Download and the file downloads directly.
- Multiple files — tap Download and all files are bundled into a single ZIP archive that downloads together.
No Upvault account is required to download.
Why the full link matters
Upvault uses end-to-end encryption. The decryption key is embedded in the transfer link as a URL parameter (key=...). Without the full, unmodified link, the files cannot be decrypted or downloaded.
If you received a truncated or broken link, ask the sender to share the complete link again.
Recommended browsers
Downloads work best in Safari, Chrome, or Firefox. Some in-app browsers (e.g. inside Instagram, TikTok, or Twitter/X) may intercept or block downloads — if you have trouble, tap the option to open the link in your default browser instead.
The link says it has expired
Transfer links expire 24 hours after they are created. Ask the sender to re-upload and share a new link. See Link Expiry for more details.
